How it works
Use the balance on an existing loan and its required monthly payment. The calculator builds two schedules: required payments only, and required payments plus your extra principal contribution. An immediate lump sum belongs only in the accelerated case. Total future cash includes that lump sum so it is not mistaken for a cost saving.
Interest and payments round to two decimal places each month and the final payment clears the balance. The required payment must reduce principal. Calculations stop with a clear error if repayment would exceed 600 months. Your bank may accrue interest daily or apply extra money differently; use its instructions and settlement quote for an actual payoff.
The formula behind the estimate
Every result starts with a defined model and visible assumptions.
Monthly interest = opening balance × annual contract rate ÷ 1,200 Payment applied = min(required payment + extra, balance + monthly interest) Closing balance = opening balance + interest − payment applied Interest saved = scheduled interest − accelerated interest An immediate lump sum reduces principal before month one.
A worked example
A hypothetical balance of 12,000 at 0% with a required payment of 1,000 takes 12 months to repay. Adding 200 each month pays it in 10 months. The time saving is two months and interest saved is zero. At a positive contract rate, extra principal can also reduce interest. The amounts work in any selected currency when every monetary input uses that currency.
Existing debt or a new purchase?
This tool starts with a debt you already owe. The purchase-loan calculator instead starts with a vehicle price, down payment, taxes, fees and trade-in. Use the purchase tool when negotiating a new deal; use this schedule when deciding how to repay an existing balance. A loan payoff quote can include accrued interest and charges not included in principal.
Use local terms with your selected currency
USD, PKR, INR, GBP, CAD, AUD, AED and EUR are display choices. Selection does not convert amounts or load local rates, bank policies or legal rules. The model assumes monthly reducing-balance interest with fixed payments; it does not model flat-rate, balloon, PCP, Ijarah or Musharakah contracts. US source links explain general concepts within their stated jurisdiction.
Questions worth asking
Is the result my lender's settlement amount?
No. Request a dated settlement quote. Daily interest, unpaid charges and prepayment terms may change the amount due.
What if my payment does not cover interest?
The calculator asks you to increase or verify the required payment. It does not invent a balloon payment to hide an increasing balance.
How does a lump sum work?
It reduces principal immediately before the first modeled month. It cannot exceed the entered balance and is counted in total cash paid.
Can I use this with no interest?
Yes. At 0%, extra payments shorten repayment but cannot save interest that is not charged.
Does selecting PKR or EUR convert my loan?
No. Enter every balance and payment in the chosen currency. No exchange rate or local loan eligibility is supplied.
